The injection and distribution of renewable gas has started

On October 3rd, the first injection of renewable gas in the Nedgia distribution network has initiated because of ECO-GATE project implementation. This project aims to generate biomethane from biogas produced in the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Butarque, Madrid.
This facility, which is managed by Nedgia, is formed by a biomethane production module that purifies the biogas recovered from the wastewater treatment plant (upgrading process) and another to inject the biomethane produced into its natural gas distribution network. In addition, powered by the Nedgia distribution network at that point, the project also includes a compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling pump for vehicles, managed by Naturgy.
The project is part of the ECO-GATE European Consortium to promote sustainable mobility. ECO-GATE is co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme. The consortium is managed and coordinated by Nedgia and is made up of 38 partners from Spain, Portugal, France and Germany.
