Starts biomethane testing in SEAT vehicles
NewsThe refuelling of vehicles starts at the UMBRELLA and METHAGRO prototypes
During December of 2018 and January of 2019, the four SEAT vehicles of the LIFE Methamorphosis (2 SEAT León and 2 SEAT Arona) began to refill for the first time in the UMBRELLA prototype, located in the Ecoparc of Montcada i Reixac, and in the METHAGRO prototype, located at Porgaporcs Farm in Vilasana.
To date, Aqualia and Naturgy have been working to achieve the quality and maximum storage capacity of biomethane, necessary to be able to use this biofuel in the automotive industry.
The test demonstrates that the prototypes are able to provide biomethane, from urban and agro-industrial waste, respectively, to two light vehicles consecutively.
At 31th of January, the two vehicles associated with the UMBRELLA prototype have driven 800 km each, while one of those that fill the tank in the METHAGRO has already covered 15,000 km and is under review. It is expected that all vehicles will cover around 30,000 km during the next months.
